Battleships of WWII Tour

About Your Tour

Our Battleships of World War II tour will encompass the bookends of The Battle of the Pacific starting with a visit to the sunken battleship USS Arizona that was caused by a surprise Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941 that catapulted the U.S. into World War II and culminating with the September 2, 1945 surrender that ended the global conflict on the Might Mo, the USS Missouri.

Itinerary:

After getting picked up at your hotel in Waikiki our guide recount the pivotal events leading up to the early morning aerial bombardment. Upon arrival at Pearl Harbor, you’ll begin with the USS Arizona Memorial experience. Learn about the 1,177 seamen who tragically perished when the USS Arizona was bombed and sank within minutes in the 30 minute documentary that breaks down the events leading to that historic day along with archived footage from the actual attack itself. After the documentary, a boat shuttle will transfer you to the USS Arizona Memorial that is mounted above the sunken battleship. Here you can pay your respects to the fallen soldiers either in the shrine room or peer down into the submerge vessel that still continues to leak drops of oil also known as the “black tears of the Arizona” 80 years to the day.

After the USS Arizona, our guide will escort you to the USS Missouri – “The Mighty Mo” where you will stand on the deck where the Japanese surrendered on September 2, 1945 while the ship was in Tokyo bringing WWII to its final close. Highlights of the Mighty Mo include its massive guns that can fire missies over 20 miles away or the dents on the side of the ship caused by a kamikaze pilot.

After your Pearl Harbor visit, we continue to Historic Downtown Honolulu. Your guide show you historic architectural landmarks associated with the islands’ time as a kingdom: Iolani Palace, Kawaiahao Church, King Kamehameha the Great Statue, and Aliiolani Hale.
